Recognition, validation, and accreditation of the learning outcomes, such as skills and values, across borders through digital credentialing are crucial in promoting lifelong learning.

Accredit Transversal Skills

EU and UNESCO suggest an ecosystem model for validating skills without borders to enable flexible learning progression. To this end, adopting Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) and open technical standards are best for issuing digital credentials that support data authenticity, portability, interoperability, security, and privacy.

Credential Platform for Educators

ValueCred offers a Credential Issuance Portal for educators to effortlessly issue Values-based Credentials* in global ecosystems that leverage DLT and comply with common standards. This enables learners to prove their skills instantly yet securely in career and education endeavours.

With our Learning Outcome Analytics, educators can track and monitor learners’ progress and accomplishments in acquiring transversal skills and values. Educators can identify the weak points of learning and proactively assist the learners in achieving their learning goals and objectives.

What is Values-based Credential?

  • is a type of Micro-credentials, as recommended by the EU, a flexible, targeted way to promote personalised learning throughout life. It is also verifiable, for which authenticity can be cryptographically proved.
  • accredit the mastery of Values and Skills, which consist of nine constructs that are defined and embedded in curriculum across different subject areas and countries (Read more: OECD Embedding Values in Curriculum)
  • is awarded to learners when
    i) they receive a significant amount of endorsements from their peers during group learning activities, or
    ii) they consistently demonstrate excellent mastery of the skills and receive recommendations from educators.

These credentials are stackable and can be combined as desired to improve learners’ employability and skill sets. They also complement the existing qualification frameworks in empowering learners to forge personalised learning and career pathways.

Present Proven Skills

There is an increasing demand for Micro-Credentials, pinpointing skills and competencies, among learners and employers. When issued through DLT, its inherent immutability enables learners to prove their skills match and even share the same company value as requested by employers.

Credential Wallet for Learners*

At ValueCred, the learner’s skills and values are described at a granular level with a standard data model. Learners receive personalised feedback on their proven skills in the Learning Report with each Values-based Credential. They can review their progress and find areas of improvement along the learning and career pathways.

Our platform also enables learners to combine and stack multiple Values-based Credentials with other verifiable credentials to showcase their skills and achievements as a Career Success Portfolio to improve their employability. Learners can easily control how much and with whom they want to share their portfolios, while employers can instantly verify the authenticity.

To ensure widespread adoption and compatibility, we build and nurture the ecosystem of values-based credentials. Our framework implements common standards and trusted technology infrastructure, making it efficient and secure to issue, exchange, and verify any of these credentials.

Technology Explained

Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) works by allowing multiple participants (i.e. nodes) as a network to maintain a shared, decentralized record of any form of data using cryptography. Once data is added to the ledger, it has been hashed, and synchronised across the network, making it almost impossible to alter or delete data in any node.

With immutability of the ledger, we no longer have to validate data directly with the issuer. Data verification is now more flexible and efficient, as we can simply check on the ledger anytime, anywhere. Trust is established for all participants on the ledger.

EU Digital Identity (EUDI) wallet is an application enabling holders to store, verify, and share personal information (e.g. identification, address proof, academic credentials) across Europe.

Our Credential Wallet conforms to EU (e.g. EBSI) specifications and its privacy and cyber security regulations, protecting holders’ privacy, and giving them complete control over their VCs and data.

Secure and Authentic

All VCs are cryptographically secured to prevent fraud and data breaches. DLT and the encryption mechanisms help verifiers to attest to the authenticity and provenance of the credentials and data.

Privacy and Self-Sovereign

In compliance with GDPR, DLT allows data exchange in a privacy-preserving way with no personal data stored on the registries. Through a mix of credentials, holders can flexibly present their identities.

Control and Ownership

Holders choose how, when, and with whom to disclose their credentials and personal information. EUDI wallet has no vendor lock-in, supporting student mobility with portability and interoperability enabled in VCs.
